"I WANT TO SPEND LESS TIME TALKING ABOUT MYSELF AND MORE TIME LISTENING TO WHAT                                                       OTHER PEOPLE HAVE TO SAY ABOUT ME." - j. KINTZ

Born near the banks of the River Clyde in Glasgow, Scotland, Mr. Scott has since taken a scenic route to becoming a teacher. His early years and inspiration dictated that he follow his talents as a musician (a saxophonist to be exact), which he did by attending Berklee College of music in Boston on scholarship. After leaving Berklee, Mr. Scott started a decade long run as a performing Jazz musician which took him to many wonderful places all over the world, gifted him experiences he most certainly will never forget, and also kept him in need of jobs in the hospitality industry (the Jazz scene certainly doesn't pay much for those like me who lacked virtuoso abilities). As the age of 30 rolled around it was suggested to him by his bank account and the emergence of grey hairs on his head that he might want to start thinking about another career. Having taught kids privately throughout the years, a sincere love for doing so had been instilled within him-  a passion only rivaled by his love for all things Jazz. So, finding himself in Belfast at the time, Mr. Scott started pursuing this interest by volunteering at first at a special needs school. Three years later, after being a volunteer, teacher's assistant and then part time music teacher, the need to go back to school arose and he did so in London - graduating with a BA in Humanities with Music (yes, that's an actual degree). At that time, having spent years with his then fiancee living in LA and he in London, the natural decision to the move to the States and join her in New Jersey as she attended Medical School at Rutgers was an unquestionable one. Soon after he did they were married, he entered into the alternate route program in NJ for teachers To-Be, obtained his CE to teach K-6, and then found himself nervously knocking on Mr. Yildiz's door for an interview. After four months of being a full time substiture teacher at TEECS, Mr. Scott was humbled by their asking him to join the team the following/current school year as the 6th grade LA, SS, and 4th grade ss teacher.

Mr. Scott is still a practicing musician, playing in NY on occasion and during the summers working as the music and theatre director at a performing arts camp. He is strongly passionate about reading (at all ages) and believes there is nothing more rewarding than the pursuit of knowledge. Certainly, if he can pass on those virtues to his students then he will feel good has been done on his part. Mr. Scott is particularly proud of his past and believes that due to his unique experiences garnered from all over the world with so many different people of varying backgrounds in a multitude of different jobs, he is not (yet) the typical teacher in pedigree. His talents are on par with the best for sure, but his perspectives and style are truly his own and are a benefit to all his students.

(He is also an avid lover of alpacas and works on an alpaca farm on the weekends. Don't get him started on alpacas or esle he'll talk your ear off about how wonderful those animals are!)
